Fredericksburg is a small and unique city nestled in central Texas in an area known as ‘The Texas Hill Country’. It is surrounded by beautiful majestic live oak trees and scrubby cedar bushes, bountiful spring fed creeks and rocky limestone bluffs.
There is a rich cultural heritage in the Texas Hill Country. German and Native American history is celebrated and preserved through many museums and active organizations. The city of Fredericksburg itself was founded in 1846 by German immigrants. Education is very important in Fredericksburg. There is a high level of parental involvement in the schools both public and private. Also several higher educational opportunities exist from such schools as Texas Tech University at Fredericksburg.
Medical facilities in Fredericksburg are state of the art. Hill Country Memorial Hospital is an 88-bed center which serves eight counties centered around Fredericksburg. There are 130 on-staff and courtesy physicians representing 31 specialities. The hospital is non-profit and primarily supported by the Hill Country Memorial Foundation.
