Fredericksburg is a small and unique city nestled in central Texas in an area known as ‘The Texas Hill Country’.  It is surrounded by beautiful majestic live oak trees and scrubby cedar bushes, bountiful spring fed creeks and rocky limestone bluffs.

There is a rich cultural heritage in the Texas Hill Country.  German and Native American history is celebrated and preserved through many museums and active organizations. The city of Fredericksburg itself was founded in 1846 by German immigrants. Their pioneering spirit and strong work ethic is still evident by the many historical buildings and homes meticulously restored and maintained.

While the setting may be quaint, Fredericksburg offers much more that any typical small Texas town.  Residents enjoy fine restaurants and highly acclaimed performing arts events.  Beautiful Marktplatz (Market Square) in downtown Fredericksburg hosts many festivals and other entertainment.  In addition, the Fredericksburg area is home to several wineries with some of the best wine in the state.

Fredericksburg is well known as a ‘destination’ for shopping and weekend getaways. Visitors and residents alike appreciate the many antique and specialty shops as well as events such as antique car shows.  In addition, the moderate climate and the many nearby State Parks make outdoor recreation and playing golf very popular.

Education is very important in Fredericksburg. There is a high level of parental involvement in the schools both public and private.  Also several higher educational opportunities exist from such schools as Texas Tech University at Fredericksburg.

Medical facilities in Fredericksburg are state of the art.  Hill Country Memorial Hospital is an 88-bed center which serves eight counties centered around Fredericksburg.  There are 130 on-staff and courtesy physicians representing 31 specialities.  The hospital is non-profit and primarily supported by the Hill Country Memorial Foundation.

With a comprehensive plan for controlled growth, the City of Fredericksburg and Gillespie County Government are well prepared to help maintain an outstanding quality of life.
People choose Fredericksburg for a reason and nowhere else in Texas will you find such a vibrant community.  Living in the Texas Hill Country is exceptional living.
