Owning a Bed and Breakfast in Fredericksburg Texas provides the opportunity to enjoy a vacation vicariously a weekend at a time.  Since our cabin is at the bottom of the hill, we stay casually aware of the comings and goings of our guests.  After reading so many carefully recorded entries in the guest book, it is easy to imagine the hikes up Enchanted Rock, the shopping on Main Street and the dining at fine restaurants.  It is a reminder of why we bought Fredericksburg Texas real estate in the first place; the Texas Hill Country is an awesome place to live!

Peepers in Fredericksburg Texas

You know spring has arrived when the Peepers begin to sing!

This year the Texas Hill Country has experienced unusually significant drought conditions.  In addition to our concerns for the ranchers and peach farmers, my wife Jan and I could not help considering the impact of the dry weather on our own little piece of Fredericksburg heaven.  Our property is located one mile from the city limits and we have approximately 3.2 acres with our home, a B&B, guest house and a pond.  In the 7 years we have lived in this particular Fredericksburg Texas home, our pond has never gone dry.  I enjoy the fact that the wildlife has had access to this source of water and when the pond went dry I wondered about this trial of nature. How would it play out in this tiny little aquatic community?
