Fresh From the Farm in Fredericksburg
Mar 11, 2009The season this year is due to open this May 28th and organizers say that this year to expect greater community involvement. Part of the goal of the Market has been to educate the Fredericksburg community on the importance of eating locally-grown foods and supporting local growers.
This year chefs from local restaurants are working together with local growers to show market-goers just how simple farm-to-table cooking can be. There are many Hill Country area restaurants committed to buying locally-grown food and they want to show how superior the taste and the importance of eating fresh and local.
More fun activities are planned such as a melon-growing contest and a ‘Great Pumpkin’ event. Best of all, popsicles from locally-grown blackberries, strawberries and peaches will be available!
